A message from the Dundee Lord Provost, Bob Duncan
Welcome everyone to this year’s European Women’s Indoor Hockey Champions Trophy.
It is truly an honour to host this year’s event and I am delighted to welcome all competing countries to Dundee. This marks the first time the competition has been held in the city in 20 years! It’s fantastic so many of you have travelled from across Europe to be here today.
I hope you have taken the time to see some of the sights of our beautiful city. We are currently undergoing some major changes which will certainly drive Dundee further forward for the future.
One of the driving forces of that change is sport! We are in the process of creating a Regional Performance Centre for Sport. This will add to our already excellent range of sporting facilities and will hopefully encourage more people to take up different kinds of sport, most importantly indoor hockey.
The European Hockey Federation aims to encourage, promote, develop and administer hockey in Europe at all levels. I hope youngsters will take advantage of the free ticket entry to see these women in action and be inspired to be our hockey players of the future.
I hope you all enjoy the next 3 days of sporting action! Good luck to the eight competing teams. I hope it is a memorable one.
Thank You
Bob Duncan
