The Young people’s sport panel
Searching for inspirational young people to speak up for sport!
In January 2016 applications will open for the 2016-2018 Young people’s sport panel!
We’re looking for another group of 16 young people to speak up for sport and work with us and Young Scot to help influence and shape sport in Scotland. In particular we would like to see more applications from young people from a wide range of backgrounds including SIMD areas and those with protected characteristics.
Criteria for applying:
Aged 14-25 and living in Scotland
Passionate about improving opportunities for all in sport
Want to provide a voice for young people in sport
Able to commit 3 hours per week
Want to make a difference
Able to work on your own or part of a team
Being part of the sport panel is a great opportunity for a young person; over the years the experience has made a positive difference to the lives of past and present panel members and they have made an important contribution to Scottish sport. The sport panel have been involved in a range of activities supporting the development of projects like School Sport Awards, young hub leaders, attending and contributing to workshops and conferences, contributing to discussions to influence and support decision making and creating content for the web and social media to raise the profile of sport. Not forgetting the opportunity to make great friends and have brilliant experiences in a team of like-minded individuals.
So, you may ask, what can I do to help just now? Answer - think about young people in your professional and personal networks – tell them about this amazing opportunity that is coming! Please bear in mind our aim of reaching diverse audiences outside of our close networks.
Applications will launch on the sportscotland website w/c 25 January 2016. A toolkit will be available in early January for you to share with your contacts to make applying easy. And of course, keep an eye on our social media for news! #sportpanel.
