Match Report

The first game of Dundee Wanderers’ season saw them travel to Glasgow to play Clydesdale. Fresh from a 3-0 victory over rivals Menzieshill, the men in red and black were confident going into the game.

This was not shown at the start of the game however. An intense start from the home team caught the Wanderers defence sleeping, and within the first 15 minutes, they found themselves 3 goals down. Clydesdale soon scored a fourth, with the Wanderers still recovering from the sucker punch of the opening minutes.

Wanderers found some rhythm after that, but still could not prevent another 2 goals going past keeper Paul Johnstone before the interval, making it a comfortable 6-0 to the home team.

It looked to be much of the same in the second half when Clydesdale scored another soon after the whistle. However the Wanderers showed a brief moment of life when an attacking move produced a goal for Scott Warden, but did not last long, as they conceded yet another only minutes later. Clydesdale scored another 2 goals to wrap up a 10-1 victory.

An unimpressive start to the season from the Wanderers, and a game which they will soon want to forget and move on from.
