CALA Edinburgh vs Dundee Wanderers

15/08/2010

The second game of the weekend saw the Wanderers travel to Edinburgh to play CALA Edinburgh once more. After a sound defeat the day before, it was certain that the home side would be seeking to put one over on the Wanderers.

It did not look likely, however, as the men in black got off to a flying start with an early goal. Despite this, Wanderers did not look the team they did the day before, with lose passing, missed opportunities and sloppy defending. CALA could not take full advantage though, and scored just one in the first period. Wanderers’ penalty corner routines shone through again, proving to be too much for the CALA defence, and they scored multiple goals throughout the game from them.

The second half did not show a big improvement from the Wanderers; however, they continued to score goals. They conceded just one more in the second half, through a controversial flick from a short corner. The CALA side did counter-attack often, through the use of long aerials, but the Wanderers defence coped with the danger relatively comfortably.

The game ended up being 8-2 to the visitors, which, considering they did not play near their potential, is a massive positive to take away from the game and into the next one, which is away against Aberdeen Asset Management on the 21st August.
