A spirited display from the 4ths v a physically stronger Uni side. Both sides went in at 0-0 at half time with the 4ths giving as much as they were taking. Despite an honest team talk at half time the 4ths were caught cold only a few minutes into the 2nd half and were quickly 2 goals down, due to a combination of slack defending for the first and giving the ball away cheaply at the other end which resulted in a promising attacking position turning into an opposition goal. They got themselves into it again with a well taken goal from Michael Zwirlein but then again let themselves down by conceding cheaply whereby Uni put themselves well out of sight, scoring another 3 without reply. Despite have a good number of penalty corners, a consolation goal late on from Ryan Nicol on his return this season was all the 4ths could muster. In conclusion a good first half was ultimately let down by an indifferent display in the 2nd period. Due to a string of fine saves a commitment, MoM goes to Kennedy Gibb. |
