The men's 2nd team, term loosely applied on this occasion, travelled to St Andrews with a squad of players only two of whom were old enough to drive the minibus. This, however, did not detract from what was a truly magificent display of skill and determination from all 12 players, and in particular, those who are yet eligible to receive a shaving kit in their Christmas stockings. Throughout the first half the 2nds gave as good as they got and went in at HT 1-0 thanks to a very well taken goal by Jamie White, despite efforts by Doug Jamieson to level the score by needlessly giving the ball away to two, thankfully, equally inept St A's forwards who conspired to miss the target when it was easier to score! This was by no means a backs to the wall victory and the shape and discipline of the team was carried into the 2nd half with the boys giving as good as they got against a much physically stronger side. Despite expectedly tiring in the last 10 minutes the team ran out worthy winners. All the boys are to be commended but overall due to his tireless running in midfield throughout, Callum MacDonald pipped it for MOM. |
