Match Report | The 3s took a strong team to Kilgraston to play Perthshire 2s. The game started at brisk pace as confidence amongst the 3s was high. Significant early pressure was rewarded with a PC which Gregor Pearson hammered into the bottom left-hand corner giving neither the keeper nor postman a chance. The Perth goal was continually under siege for the entire first half. Further pressure was rewarded when Mark Walker played the ball from the half-way line straight into the D where Gregor Pearson swept the ball into the goal past the stranded Perth keeper. The first half ended at 2-0. The second half continued in a similar vein with the 3s applying pressure, which was rewarded with a goal from another PC. A short pass to Alan Robertson at the edge of the D saw his shot flash in at the left-hand post, again passed the keeper and the postman. However, this seemed to inspired Perth and after some poor Wanderers defending and good work at the edge of the 3s D by the Perth midfield they pulled a goal back. Despite this set-back the win looked secure as the 3s continued to press to extend their lead. With only a few minutes to go Luke Dolan found himself in the Perth D in front of the goal keeper. His powerful shot dribbled under the keeper and crawled across the line to secure the win. Thanks to Gordon Nicoll for an excellent umpiring display and to Luke Dolan for changing his plans and coming to play for the 3s following a late withdrawal. |
