Match Report | The 3s started their cup campaign with a difficult trip to Edinburgh to play Grange 3s. A strong 3 team pressed Grange from the outset, and a considerable number of opportunities were missed. Marc Shanks opened the scoring with a shot from the right of the D which flashed passed the Grange keeper. Despite being a goal behind, Grange continued to press for the equaliser and were unlucky not to get it. A controversial decision following an incident directly in front of the umpire lead to a PC for Grange. The resulting shot was deflected by Mark Walker passed his own goalkeeper for the equaliser. The first half ended with the score tied at 1 goal each. In the second half, the tussle for supremacy continued with the 3s perhaps having the upper hand. This was reinforced when Sid Harris struck a shot from the right hand side of the D across the keeper and into the left-hand corner. The goal that sealed the game was scored by Ross Johnson following a release p[ass by Mark Kane. Grange continued to press and with seconds on the clock beat Craig Nicol in the goal, only to have their efforts cleared off the line by Fraser Docherty. |
