Match Report | After a successful start to the season against the 4s and 5s the 3s began their title defence against external opposition this week. Perth 2s were swept away 6-0 in game that could have had a greater scoreline. Callum Boag opened the scoring early in the first half, but a spirited defence by Perth kept the chances to a minimum. David Grant was injured after only about 10 minutes and was forced to retire hurt. The first half ended with a second Wanderers goal, this time a strike from the edge of the D by the evergreen Sid Harris. In the second half, the 3s pressed harder, and their efforts were rewarded with a second Callum Boag goal. This was closely followed by a short range effort by Dennis Monks from a PC breakdown resulting in the 3s fourth goal of the day. As the Perth players began to tire, the 3s pressed on and Callum Boag claimed this hat trick when the ball played off the Perth keeper just in front of goal and he volleyed the rebound into the back of the net from very short range. The icing on the 3s cake was provided by Gregor Pearson, who after picking the ball up in front of the Perth keeper promptly J-turned around him and fired the ball into the empty net.
