Match Report

A cracking opener to the season for both teams, saw the 3s edge it over the 5s in a score line that did not reflect the game. A very close first half was evenly balanced until, with five minutes left, Callum Boag pounced on a rebound at a short corner and put the 3s in the lead.

Early in the second half, Boag extended the 3s lead with a fine first time effort that eluded Cammie Healey in the 5s goal. However, the 5s were not out of the running and some good work by Daniel Mackay allowed him to opening the scoring for the 5s.

With the slender lead in jeopardy, Kevin Donachie found himself in front of Healey, and his bobbling, trundler bounced over the keeper’s stick to reinstate the two goal lead.

As the game continued, the 3s began to accelerate their passing game, and Gregor Pearson secured the points with a well-deserved hat trick. The 5s scored their second goal through some deceptive work by Peerse, but to no avail as the 3s ran out 6-2 winners.

Thanks to Blackjack and Simmo for an excellent umpiring performance.
